How To Get Six Pack Abdominals

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010

Ordinary ab workouts like crunches are not the best way to get six pack abdominals.

The best way to develop muscular abs is by exercising the major muscles in your entire body while also working your abdominals with full body, multi-joint workouts. This is the type of exercise that enables you to burn belly fat by increasing your metabolism.

Crunches do tone and strengthen your stomach muscles, but don’t burn fat. More importantly, this type of exercise doesn’t burn away visceral fat. It is visceral fat that is responsible for that beer belly appearance and is located under our abdominal muscles.

Only by increasing your metabolism using full body workouts can visceral fat be burned. Front squats are a good example of a metabolic boosting and entire body exercise. You can increase your metabolism further by increasing the intensity of front squats by using weights like dumbbells.

You can perform squats with weights by first standing straight holding the dumbbells just below your chin and against your chest. To keep the correct alignment between your neck and spine, keep your chin up. For proper form, keep your elbows in front of your body. Bend your hips and knees to go to a squatting position. Keep your buttocks above the level of your knees while in a squatting position. Also, your knees should remain behind your toes. Hold this position for three counts and return to the erect position.

You can also do renegade dumbbell rows, floor mountain climbers and lunges for a high intensity, full body workout. The keys to devloping six pack abdominals are performing these full body exercises combined with a healthy diet. This strategy is much better than developing toned muscles on top of a layer of fat.

Nutrition also plays an important role in developing six pack abdominals.

If junk food remains a major part of your diet, you won’t be able to develop six pack abdominals. In order to create that lean, muscular look that you desire, the combination of a proper diet with full body workouts must be part of your strategy.

Basically, using traditional ab exercises, diet pills and ab machines just won’t get you that six pack abdominal that you want. To burn away that belly fat, your strategy must include a combination of intense, full body workouts with a well designed meal plan. Then and only then can you get those six pack abdominals.

Full body exercises and a proper diet are the keys to success in developing six pack abdominals.
